Water well
Classical interpretations
Seeing a water well signifies a cheerful, smiling woman; for a woman, seeing a well signifies a man of good character. A well is interpreted in five ways: wealth, knowledge, marriage, a large or stout person, and imprisonment or confinement.
Ja'far al-Sadiq said that a well is interpreted in four ways: marriage, a scholar, a great man, and sin or deception. At times, a well signifies the removal of sorrow and grief, openness of heart, and fulfillment of needs. Digging a well and finding water in it signifies marriage to a wealthy woman.
Seeing water burst out after piercing the walls of a house signifies release from sorrow and grief.
Seeing the water of a well overflow signifies sorrow, grief, and weeping that will occur in that place. Falling into a well signifies loss of rank or office. At times, a well signifies one's parents, child, educator or teacher, grave, deception, fulfillment of needs, travel, a desired matter, or goodness. Al-Nabulsi said that different kinds of wells have different interpretations. A household well signifies the owner of the house, his wealth and shop, his wife, servant, death, and life.
Abu Sa'id al-Wa'iz said that a well signifies a wealthy and good wife for a man, and a husband of good character for a woman. It has been said that seeing a well in one's house or field signifies provision that will come quickly, release from difficulties, and joy.
Seeing a water well in an unknown place signifies the dreamer's worldly means: he is sustained from it, lives in comfort, and his life is prolonged. If there is no water in the well, it signifies that his appointed time has arrived. Descending into a well and hearing the call to prayer when one reaches halfway down signifies travel and a journey. If a scholar stands over a well and drinks from its clean, clear water, he will attain knowledge and virtue in proportion to the amount he drinks.
