Classical interpretations

Walking barefoot signifies the departure of sorrow and grief, beauty in religion, humility for Allah, Islam, and being granted good provision. Walking at a run signifies victory over an enemy. At times walking signifies righteous and good deeds. Walking in the sky signifies walking upon rainwater.

Seeing inanimate things such as mountains and iron walk signifies severity, acting cautiously in matters of religion and worldly life, and help from the people. Walking also signifies seeking provision, in accordance with the verse whose meaning is, "So walk among its slopes and eat of His provision" (Qur'an 67:15). Walking with one's head lowered signifies long life. Walking on one leg signifies the loss of half of one's wealth or half of one's life. Walking like an animal signifies adopting the character of ignorant people. If a person with weak eyesight sees that he has many feet and walks with them, it signifies becoming blind and needing others in order to walk, because everyone guides a blind person and in effect becomes his feet. Walking on stone signifies patiently enduring grief, sorrow, and distress.
