Classical interpretations
A prayer made during a dream is a sign of worship while awake or of a prayer the dreamer will perform. Again, a prayer in a dream signifies attaining one's wish, and a child. If the prayer seen in a dream is made with intense desire and crying out, then it is a sign of calamities or of strife. If the prayer is made in a loud voice, it signifies scarcity of rain. It has been said: Seeing prayer in a dream signifies righteousness in religion and piety, strength of faith, and soundness of belief.
Ibn Kathir said: Seeing oneself pray in a dream is a sign that the prayer one makes while awake will be accepted. A dream of prayer comes true exactly as seen.
Seeing oneself pray in the daytime comes true sooner than a prayer seen toward evening or at the beginning of the night. A prayer seen toward morning comes about exactly as seen within about a week.
Seeing oneself pray to one's generous Lord, or seeing prayer made for oneself, is a sign of attaining good and reaching an enviable blessing. Again, praying in a dream signifies the meeting of needs and the quick coming about of one's wishes. Whoever sees himself pray to his Lord in the dark will be freed from sorrow and grief.
Al-Nabulsi says making supplication in a dream signifies acceptance of the prayer, guidance, provision, and being praised by eminent people. Supplicating after prayer signifies great good. Praying against another person signifies overcoming that person through one's words.
