Classical interpretations

Seeing oneself sow crops in a field in a dream signifies, for married people, the wife's pregnancy. For the unmarried, it is a sign of marriage. If a person sees himself sow crops in another man's field, it signifies a quarrel and enmity that will arise between him and the owner of the field.

Seeing the crops in the field burn and be destroyed is interpreted as hunger and famine. If a person sees himself walk among green crops, it signifies good and fine deeds, worship, and obedience. Again, whoever sees himself sow crops in a field will attain benefit and blessing. The green state of the crops is a sign of a long life, and their dryness a sign that one's appointed time is near.

Seeing oneself sow wheat is interpreted as one's wages multiplying many times over.

Seeing an ear of wheat is a sign of severity and of wages multiplying many times over. Barley signifies good.

Seeing oneself sow crops in a place where crops should not be sown is a sign of sin and loss.

Seeing oneself reap crops in a place out of season, however, signifies the appearance of death and disasters in that place. Al-Nabulsi said: "Seeing a field in a dream signifies battlefields, its ears soldiers, and its harvest the sword; the field signifies the world and its ears the gathering of people. Sometimes a field also signifies mosques, circles of remembrance, and every place sown for the hereafter and made for its wages and reward, such as charity." In the noble hadith it is said: "The world is the field of the hereafter."
