Classical interpretations
Seeing a jinn in a dream is interpreted as a deceitful person. If a person sees himself teach the Noble Qur'an to one of the jinn, and one of the jinn listen to the Noble Qur'an from him, this dream signifies high offices such as chieftainship or presidency for that person. If a head of state sees himself catch a jinn and put it in chains, it signifies for that ruler that he will conquer a land and put the unbelievers to the sword.
Seeing the kings of the jinn in a dream is a sign of governors, sheikhs, scholars, and the teachers of students.
Seeing oneself as a jinn is interpreted as deceit.
Seeing a jinn near one's door is a sign of harm. Or it signifies straitened circumstances and abasement that will befall one.
Seeing jinn enter one's house and do things is a sign that a thief will enter the house and do harm.
Seeing jinn in a dream sometimes also signifies a journey by land and sea. Again, seeing jinn in a dream is a sign of conjurers and sorcerers.
Seeing oneself throw to the ground al-Jann, the father of the jinn, signifies being safe from the evil of the jinn and of those they signify.
Seeing the jinn throw oneself to the ground is interpreted as harm that will come from the jinn, and the jinn will do him harm.
Seeing oneself befriend the kings of the jinn is a sign of becoming acquainted with the one whom the jinn signify. Sometimes this dream also signifies turning to the Truth by repenting and asking forgiveness.
Seeing a jinn on the ground and on roads signifies a highwayman; seeing it where animal dung and manure are dumped, a watchman; and seeing it in a well or a bathhouse, men who deceive adulterous men and women. In short, there is not much good in seeing a jinn in a dream.
