Classical interpretations

Seeing ants is interpreted as: a weak and covetous people; soldiers and an army; family; long life; low prices; abundance and provision. Ants are found where there is provision and are constantly at work. Understanding the language of ants signifies authority, in reference to the story of Solomon.

Seeing an ant enter the house carrying food in its mouth signifies goodness and blessing for that house.

Ja'far al-Sadiq said that ants are interpreted in four ways: household members, relatives, travel, and wealth and blessing. Small red ants signify weak people, while large black ants signify relatives and household members.

Seeing ants grow wings signifies the death of many soldiers.
