Classical interpretations
Seeing Ali, described in the source as the unconquered lion of Allah and the leader of the saints, signifies high rank, knowledge and wisdom, bravery and courage, a pure heart, generosity, goodness, and happiness. It also signifies that oppression, darkness, injustice, and similar evils will leave that place.

Al-Nabulsi said that a person who sees the four caliphs in a dream is very likely to die as a martyr. If the one who sees Hazrat Ali is a ruler, it signifies conquering a fortified stronghold and attaining fame. At times, seeing Hazrat Ali signifies leadership, the caliphate, a difficult journey, and, for believers, attaining spoils and the manifestation of miraculous favors.
