Seeing oneself recite the Qur'an or something from it in a dream signifies honor, elevation, dignity, and renown. If the dreamer is sinful, God forgives his sins and accepts his repentance; if poor, he is granted wealth; if in debt, his debt is paid; and if he is to testify, he gives truthful testimony. Reciting the Qur'an with a beautiful voice and melody signifies honor, elevation, and a good reputation. Seeing Qur'an memorizers gathered in one place signifies a gathering there of honorable people. Reciting while people listen signifies appointment to an office in which one's word is heeded. Reciting surahs that are read over the dead signifies the death of a sick person. A person who cannot normally read well but sees himself reading his record of deeds on the Day of Resurrection is said to become wealthy, have his needs fulfilled, and be made safe from what he fears.

Ja'far al-Sadiq interpreted seeing the Qur'an in seven ways: knowledge, wisdom, inheritance, trust, lawful provision, judgment, and strength. Buying a Qur'an signifies spending one's wealth in the path of religion; distorting the Qur'an signifies corruption in religion, limited understanding, and defective belief. Reading a page or any book signifies inheritance; reading the page backward signifies falling into debt and sorrow. Reading a foreign book beautifully and correctly signifies travel to an unknown country.

Seeing a book of Qur'anic commentary in one's hand signifies the correctness of one's path, while studying commentary signifies resolution of difficulties. Kirmani said that opening the Mushaf and placing it on a pulpit, for one who is among the people of the Qur'an, signifies being remembered well and becoming the head of a group. Jabir al-Maghribi said that kissing the Qur'an signifies success in a good matter; writing Qur'anic text on the ground signifies heresy; and reciting the Qur'an while naked signifies making one's livelihood from the Qur'an. Leaning on the Mushaf or placing it under one's head, if the dreamer is pious, signifies intense attachment to the Qur'an and memorizing it. Losing one's Qur'an signifies forgetting knowledge and the Qur'an. Hanging a Qur'an around one's neck signifies becoming governor of a city or being entrusted with a trust.
