Classical interpretations

Seeing Medina, the city of the Sultan of the Prophets, or arriving in Medina, signifies good, blessing, and happiness in religion and worldly life.

Seeing oneself standing at the gate of the Prophet's Mosque or at the door of the Blessed Chamber signifies repentance and attaining pardon and forgiveness.

Ja'far al-Sadiq said that seeing Medina is interpreted in seven ways: safety and security; mercy; forgiveness; deliverance; a good livelihood; Paradise; and following the straight path.

Seeing oneself between the blessed grave and the pulpit of the Messenger of God signifies being among the people of Paradise, based on the saying of the Prophet that the space between his pulpit and grave is one of the gardens of Paradise.

Seeing the noble grave of the Messenger of God within one's own house signifies attaining the intercession of the Messenger. Sweeping or washing his blessed grave signifies happiness in this world and the hereafter and being fortunate and blessed.

Seeing light burst forth from the blessed grave signifies honor and dignity, soundness in religion, and the Prophet's intercession. Sitting with one's back turned toward the blessed grave signifies distance from the Prophetic Sunnah. Clinging to the enclosure of the Prophet and weeping signifies attaining intercession and being honored with happiness in the abode of the hereafter.

Seeing one of the Companions of the Final Prophet in that place signifies taking on that Companion's character. Setting out on the road to Medina signifies the straight path.

Seeing the radiant Prophet's Mosque signifies a good state, prosperity, joy, and glad tidings. Listening to a sermon in the noble mosque signifies following the Prophetic Sunnah.
