Classical interpretations

Seeing that one is given a cap signifies a distant journey and that the person will travel.

Seeing a cap may also signify leadership or travel, marriage for an unmarried person, or a servant. A person who sees himself put a beautiful cap on his head attains honor and high standing.

Seeing in a dream one of the caps or skullcaps one wears while awake signifies a superior or commander over the dreamer, or a father, paternal uncle, or learned person.

Seeing one's cap fall from one's head signifies separation from one's superior or dismissal from one's job.

Wearing one's cap backward signifies, for an official, that his superior will become angry with him.

Seeing that the cap on one's head is of the kind worn by righteous people signifies resembling the righteous and reading their works. If an unmarried woman sees a cap on her head, it signifies that she will marry. If a pregnant woman sees it, it signifies a male child, because caps are worn by men. Sometimes a skullcap or cap signifies piety and scrupulousness. If a person sees a sable, fox-skin, or squirrel-skin cap on his head and he is a merchant, it signifies that he trades in impure things. If he is an official, it is interpreted as oppression.
