Black Chicken

Seeing a black chicken signifies an intelligent child and a well-dressed student. If a person sees a black chicken fly, his son, or someone he loves like a son, will go on a journey. Catching, buying, or receiving a black chicken as a gift signifies a righteous child or a useful and obedient servant.

Ja'far al-Sadiq (may God be pleased with him) said that seeing a black chicken is interpreted in four ways: (a) a righteous and devout wife, (b) an obedient servant, (c) a companion who leads to good, and (d) a faithful and hardworking man. Jabir al-Maghribi said that seeing a female black chicken signifies a wife, while seeing a male black chicken signifies a religious, well-mannered, dignified companion or servant.
