Classical interpretations

Seeing one of the prophets signifies great fortune, honor, and attainment of what is hoped for.

Ibn Sirin says seeing the major prophets signifies honor and dignity, while seeing the other prophets signifies victory, strength in religion, and fulfilling trusts. Kirmani says seeing a prophet cheerful and smiling signifies honor, effort, and victory.

Ja'far al-Sadiq interprets seeing the prophets through mercy, blessing, honor, high rank, authority, victory, happiness and leadership, strength in Islam, and good and ease in this world and the next. Quarreling with a prophet signifies misfortune and turning away from the Sunnah toward innovation.

Wearing a prophet's garment signifies goodness in religion and worldly life, while seeing oneself as a prophet signifies dying as a martyr.

Seeing any of the Prophets signifies a father, because the Prophets are like fathers to their peoples. Since a father is compassionate and merciful toward his child, he tries to protect the child from punishment in this world and the Hereafter. Prophets also signify teachers and masters, because a teacher educates a student according to the manners of the Prophet.

Seeing a Prophet in a beautiful and pleasant state signifies that what will arise from his community will be good; seeing him in an unfavorable state signifies oppression arising from his community.

Seeing oneself as a prophet signifies dying as a martyr.

Seeing all the Prophets gathered together in one place signifies victory over enemies, the arising of goodness and blessing, and mercy.

If a poor, destitute, unemployed, or needy person sees one of the Prophets, it signifies attaining blessing, improvement in affairs, and release from distress and poverty.

Seeing oneself perform the good deeds of the Prophets, such as worship, obedience, kindness, and beneficence, signifies that the dreamer is religious and faithful.

Seeing oneself living in the time of a Prophet signifies dignity, honor, blessing, good fortune, and salvation. Speaking with one of the Prophets, or seeing one of the Prophets graciously speak to the dreamer, signifies dignity, honor, and fame among people.
