Seeing oneself drunk in a dream signifies sorrow, grief, and distress. At times, drunkenness also signifies joy together with an abundance of blessings and wealth. Becoming drunk after drinking something made from dates or grapes signifies power and sovereignty.
Drinking wine and becoming drunk under its influence signifies unlawful wealth, because wine itself is unlawful. Al-Nabulsi said: If a person becomes drunk in a dream and tears the clothes he is wearing, it signifies that, because of the breadth of his blessings and good fortune, he will be unable to contain himself, become excessive, and be unable to bear those blessings. Indeed, many people, unable to bear the blessings they received, became excessive and drove themselves to ruin. If the drunkenness seen in the dream is from wine, it signifies authority and wealth. Drunkenness caused by something other than wine signifies severe fear in proportion to the degree of drunkenness. Drunkenness in a dream also signifies, for both men and women, falling from their present position, because drunkenness signifies an abundance of ignorance, the corruption of affairs, and the loss of reason.
Seeing oneself pretend to be drunk while not actually drunk signifies claiming to possess things one does not possess. If the dreamer is a righteous person, however, it signifies entering a state of spiritual ecstasy and intoxication of the heart because of love and devotion to Allah Most High.
