Seeing a ladder signifies safety in affairs, enjoining good, and forbidding evil. Climbing a ladder signifies elevation and honor, strength and power, and soundness in religion.

Ja'far al-Sadiq said that for righteous people a ladder signifies victory over the enemy, while for corrupt people it signifies deficiency in religion. If a sick person climbs to the final rung of a ladder, it signifies that his life has reached its completion. Climbing a long and wide ladder signifies a high public office; if the dreamer is suited to it, he rises to very high positions. Jabir al-Maghribi said that climbing a ladder, descending it, then climbing and descending again signifies working for the good and benefit of people, so that everyone benefits from the dreamer. Slipping and falling from a ladder signifies falling from rank and position. Climbing a stone ladder signifies hardness of heart. Climbing a wooden ladder signifies enjoining good upon a disobedient person, keeping that person away from evil, and giving beneficial counsel. For someone troubled or sorrowful, seeing a ladder signifies safety from grief and sorrow. A ladder may also signify travel and a person of high standing. Climbing a new ladder is interpreted in four ways: attaining good, religion, elevation in the world, and safety in one's affairs. Falling from an iron ladder signifies weakness in religion. If the ladder breaks while the dreamer is on it, it signifies defeat by the enemy. Climbing a ladder in order to hear a good word signifies victory and greatness.
