Oud / lute

For an unmarried person, seeing an oud signifies marriage; for a married person, it signifies a child.

Abu Sa'id al-Wa'iz said that playing the oud signifies words contrary to the truth, and listening to the oud is interpreted similarly. Playing the oud in one's own house signifies being afflicted by a calamity.

Seeing an oud string break while one is playing signifies deliverance from sorrow, grief, and distress. If a person sees himself playing the oud at the door of the leader of the Muslims, it signifies authority and sovereignty if he is qualified for them; if not, it signifies false speech. If an unjust man sees himself play the oud, it signifies causing a people to groan under his oppression.
