Ja'far al-Sadiq interprets the elephant through a Persian king, an envious man, a powerful man, a bloodthirsty tyrant, and war and enmity. Kirmani says the elephant signifies the ruler, riding it high office, and its hide, flesh, bones, and other parts benefit and blessing. An elephant injuring the dreamer signifies harm from the ruler; for a sick person it signifies death.
