Classical interpretations
Seeing the mouth in a dream has been interpreted as the beginning and end of one's affairs. It is also interpreted as the key and opening of affairs, the channel of provision, and the place of strength.
What comes out of the mouth signifies the words a person speaks, whether good or evil; what enters the mouth signifies that person's provision.
Al-Nabulsi said: If a person sees that their mouth has disappeared, it signifies their death.
Ibn Sirin said: Seeing the mouth bound and closed is interpreted in five ways: death, severe illness, rebellion or excess, muteness, and silence.
Putting something medicinal into the mouth signifies righteousness in religion; putting food into it likewise signifies well-being. Putting something useless into it signifies grief and sorrow.
Seeing one's mouth become very large signifies a great increase in provision and wealth.
Seeing it become smaller signifies the opposite: constriction in provision and livelihood.
Ja'far al-Sadiq said that seeing the mouth is interpreted in seven ways: a station or stage, a dwelling, the treasury of knowledge, the key to affairs, a marketplace, a gatekeeper, and a vizier.
Seeing milk or sherbet poured into one's mouth signifies being occupied with remembrance and glorification of Allah.
Seeing one's mouth smell pleasant signifies good speech, remembrance, glorification, praise, and commendation.
Seeing it smell foul signifies foul speech and disbelief.
Seeing the flesh of one's mouth decay and fall away signifies affliction, calamity, harm, and loss.
If a sick person sees their mouth large and beautiful, it signifies recovery from illness and safety.
Seeing one's mouth disappear also signifies the ruin of a household, the breaking of a vessel, and the emptying of prisons.
Ibn Kathir said: The mouth in a dream signifies preaching, remembrance, and a channel of knowledge.
Seeing clear water flow from one's mouth signifies that other people will benefit from one's knowledge and virtue.
