A shortening stick signifies failing to attain one's aim; a lengthening one, attaining it. A cane suddenly turning into a snake signifies friends becoming enemies. A talking cane signifies provision, blessing, and benefit. Striking someone with it signifies speaking against that person. Striking a rock and causing water to gush out signifies wealth for the poor and increased wealth for the rich.
