Ja'far al-Sadiq said that seeing the head is interpreted in twelve ways: the leader or elder of a group, father, mother, imam or guide, high office, scholar, wealth, child, male servant, female servant, spouse, and an easy livelihood.

Seeing a severed head in one's hand signifies receiving the favor of an important person and, through that person, the opening of doors of goodness and benefit.

Seeing one's own head become larger signifies an increase in one's father's honor.

Seeing oneself with two or three heads signifies overcoming an enemy and becoming wealthy.

Seeing one's neck struck and head cut off signifies great wealth and property. Holding one's own head in one's hand signifies elevation and greatness.

Just as everything has its honor, the head is the most honored part of the body; therefore seeing the head may signify leadership, parents, a teacher, the ruler, and good things.

Holding many severed heads signifies that people will submit to and obey the dreamer in all matters.

Eating a person's head raw signifies backbiting a high official and also wealth coming from somewhere.

Seeing one's head become the head of a dog, donkey, or horse signifies hardship and difficulty; seeing it become a bird's head signifies much travel. Losing one's own head signifies losing the person or thing represented by the head.

Imam al-Nabulsi said: Seeing one's head cut off, then taking it and placing it back so that it immediately returns to its former state, signifies dying in battle in the path of Allah.

Seeing a head on a bayonet, spear, or staff signifies a highly honored leader. If a ruler sees bone on his head, it signifies increase in sovereignty and power; seeing his head like a ram's signifies justice and fairness; seeing it as a dog's head signifies oppression.

Seeing one's neck struck by a sultan or governor signifies release from grief and sorrow.

Seeing one's head separated from oneself signifies loss of capital.
