Saying farewell to one's wife signifies divorcing her. Saying farewell to one's friends signifies death or separation from them. Al-Nabulsi said: Saying farewell in a dream signifies loss of rank, divorcing one's wife, the death of a sick person, moving from one place to another, or moving from one craft to another. It also signifies the separation of two partners, the dismissal of a governor, and loss suffered by a merchant. If a man who intends to marry sees himself saying farewell, it signifies that the marriage will not take place. A sick person's farewell to friends or family signifies death. At times, saying farewell also signifies love and friendship, because friends bid farewell to one another.
