Seeing earth in a dream signifies people, because people were created from earth and will return to it. Earth can also signify animals, the world, and all creatures within it, because the provision of nearly every living being grows from the earth.
Ja'far al-Sadiq said that earth is interpreted in five ways: wealth, benefit, worldly occupation, provision, and usefulness.
Seeing a pile of earth inside one's house signifies money that will be acquired without hardship. Yellow earth signifies gold; white earth, silver; pure earth, coins; and black earth, paper money. Striking the earth with one's hand and stirring it signifies fighting, partnership, gain, and benefit. Walking over the earth and striking it with a stick signifies a beneficial journey.
Seeing one's own house collapse and some dust and earth fall on oneself signifies wealth that will come through inheritance.
Eating earth, or gathering earth and piling it in one place, signifies abundant gain and profit. Putting earth into a vessel or jar and storing it signifies saving wealth for one's children and household.
Eating earth from the blessed shrine of the Noble Prophet signifies going on pilgrimage and visiting the noble grave of the Messenger of Allah. Shaking dust from oneself signifies spending one's wealth. For a traveler, the place he digs signifies his journey, and the earth he digs out signifies the wealth and benefit he earns. Earth also signifies provision, agriculture, hunger, and, in the wording of the source, 'help,' because human provision grows from the earth. Sitting on clean and beautiful earth signifies happiness and help, because people dwell upon the earth. Scattering earth over one's own head signifies very great sorrow and grief. Throwing earth on one's head signifies regret and remorse.
Seeing a man come and scatter earth on one's face signifies praising people through odes and poetry, but the thing one hopes for from that man will not come into one's hands.
