Seeing Satan, the ancient enemy of the children of Adam, signifies a deceitful, greedy, envious enemy in matters of religion and worldly life. Hating and showing hostility toward Satan signifies obedience to Allah, faithfulness in religion, strength of faith, and being a sincere servant. Binding devils and imprisoning them signifies help, strength, and fame.

Seeing oneself command devils and having them obey signifies leadership, honor, awe, and fame, and the dreamer will subdue his enemies.

Seeing Satan descend upon oneself signifies slander, lying, and a sinful act. Wrestling with Satan and defeating him signifies victory over an enemy, rank, and fame.

Seeing Satan lead one astray, drive one from the path, and leave one in terror and confusion signifies damage and loss to wealth. At times, seeing Satan signifies relief, lying, and lust, just as lust signifies lying and satanic behavior.

Seeing Satan joyful, cheerful, and at ease signifies that the dreamer is occupied with carnal desires.

Seeing Satan may also signify a scholar devoted to innovation, abandoning prayer, lying, deception, theft, plunging into sin, and long life. It may signify cunning, envy, and intrigue and, by analogy with the story of Adam, causing separation between husband and wife. At times, seeing devils signifies builders, divers who descend into water, spies, and people who steal words. If a person sees Satan frighten him, it signifies that he is one of Allah's good servants and that Allah Most High has granted him safety from fear and from Satan. Al-Nabulsi said: If a person sees himself become Satan, he will remain continually in Satan's grip, or turn away from his religion, or live far from the mercy of Allah Most High and die from grief and sorrow; or he may be provided with offspring and wealth, prevail over his enemies through trickery and deceit, command evil in his time, and forbid people from good.
