Ibn Sirin said that seeing a large city or town is good in whatever form it appears.

Seeing oneself in a city one has never known signifies attaining one's wish and desire. Kirmani said that seeing oneself in Mecca signifies relief and honor. Building up a city signifies an increase of scholars and saints in that city and that one's children will continue in one's profession and path.

Ibn Sirin said, in light of the verse, 'So he left it, fearful and watchful' (al-Qasas 21), that entering a city in a dream is good and pleasant, while leaving a city is not favorable.

Seeing an unknown city signifies the Hereafter, while a known city signifies religion for the dreamer. At times, a city signifies a scholar, in light of the saying, 'I am the city of knowledge and Ali is its gate.' Entering Damascus signifies blessing and, for someone in hardship and affliction, good and relief; at times, Damascus signifies seditions.

Entering a city whose people are crowded while the dreamer is an official signifies obtaining provision from an unexpected place.

Seeing a prosperous land signifies honor, elevation, and wealth. At times, a country signifies its ruler, governor, scholar, or judge.

Seeing cities of the west signifies honor, dignity, knowledge, and elevation of rank.

Seeing a deceased person in a city signifies that the deceased is in Paradise among the people of Paradise.

Seeing believing and Muslim inhabitants of a city signifies attainment of one's goal, glad tidings, and joy.

Seeing the field where the Battle of Badr took place signifies victory over an enemy and broad provision, in light of the verse, 'Allah certainly gave you victory at Badr when you were weak' (Al Imran 123).

Seeing Hunayn signifies release from sorrow and grief after hardship.

Seeing a city's fortress destroyed signifies the death of one of that city's leading people or his dismissal from office.

Seeing a breach in the fortress through which predatory animals such as lions, wolves, or leopards enter, or through which floodwaters or thieves invade, signifies weakness and calamity affecting the Muslim people or seekers of knowledge.

Entering Mecca or Medina signifies safety from fear, fulfillment of one's desire, and a good end.
