Seeing a group of the Rum people signifies attaining what one desires. At times, seeing the people of Rum signifies both victory and being brought low, because of the indication in the verse whose meaning is: 'Alif, Lam, Mim. The Romans have been defeated in a nearby land. Yet after their defeat they will be victorious within a few years. The command belongs to Allah before and after, and on that day the believers will rejoice.' (Rum 1–4).
