Blindness is a calamity even in worldly life. Therefore, seeing oneself blind in a dream signifies religious error. Blindness may also be interpreted as forgetting the Qur'an. A person who sees himself blind may receive an inheritance and have the door of wealth opened to him.
Seeing another person blind one signifies falling into error through that person's influence. If a non-Muslim sees his eye blinded, the one who blinds him will guide him to the right path.
Seeing oneself blind with one's back turned toward the qibla signifies being in error and misguidance.
Seeing both eyes blind signifies lack of modesty and shame. Sometimes blindness signifies being remembered for goodness and keeping one's word. Based on the stories of Isaac and Jacob, it may also signify possessing knowledge and wisdom. If a prisoner sees that he has become blind, it signifies release from prison, because people have compassion for the blind. Blindness may sometimes signify error, and for people of worship it may signify refusing to regard the world as worthy, looking upon it with disdain, and turning away from love of the world, since love of the world is regarded as the root of every evil. Helping a blind man, taking him by the hand, and leading him somewhere signifies being a person of goodness and generosity and performing good deeds.
