Seeing a butterfly signifies an enemy who speaks grandly but is himself weak and base. For people engaged in agriculture, seeing butterflies signifies unemployment, hardship, and evil men and bad women gaining influence. Sometimes seeing a butterfly signifies friendship and love, or throwing oneself into something that will bring one's own destruction.
Seeing a butterfly away from a lamp, oil lamp, or candle signifies people who spend their goodness and avoid evil, or a short-lived child.
Seeing butterflies may also signify men and women competing with one another and people devoted to the art of painting. A butterfly also signifies weakness and helplessness.
