Seeing a trench signifies that by which a king and the people of a city are protected by guards and soldiers, and the wealth by which an enemy is repelled, because a trench prevents an enemy from entering the city. If the fortress seen in the dream signifies knowledge, the trench signifies the scholars within it who protect it. If the fortress signifies a woman, the trench signifies her guardian. If the fortress signifies a child, the trench is interpreted as that child's father or mother.
