Tying a knot

Classical interpretations

Seeing oneself tie a knot in the hem or the sleeve of one's shirt in a dream is a sign of concluding a trade. Tying a knot on a rope signifies firmness of religion; tying a knot on a handkerchief, having a servant; and tying a knot in one's drawers, marriage.

Seeing oneself tie and bind with a knot something one fears will fall or be lost is a sign of goodness and kindness. Again, tying an animal by its tether or its knee is also interpreted as good. Knotting anything in a dream signifies concluding a marriage and a necklace of pearls. Tying a knot in a cord in a dream is a sign of debt; tying a knot in a handkerchief, of benefiting from a servant; tying a knot in one's drawers, of the marriage bond; and tying a knot in a thread, of strengthening something one desires, such as public office, trade, or marrying off. Being unable to knot something one tries to knot in a dream signifies that affairs will become difficult. Untying something knotted, however, is a sign of resolving what one desires.
