Imam al-Nabulsi said that stealing something kept under protection signifies adultery and usury. If the thief seen in the dream is unknown, he signifies Azrael. If he is known, the thief learns from the person whose property he stole some useful knowledge, craft, or saying.

Seeing a thief enter a house and steal something belonging to the servants signifies that one of those servants will die. Some interpreters said that theft in a dream is a sign of goodness and benefit, except for a person intending to deceive or trick someone; for such a person, the dream signifies evil rather than good. Killing a thief in a dream signifies recovery from illness and well-being.
