Classical interpretations
Seeing a valuable thing lent to oneself signifies entering into debt to the value of what was lent.
Seeing oneself lend something to another person signifies benefit, provision, and wealth that will be obtained. At times, lending in a dream signifies preferring another person over oneself and doing good purely for Allah’s pleasure. It also signifies that the world will turn toward the dreamer at an unknown time.
Seeing oneself give a loan for Allah’s sake signifies striving in the way of Allah and spending money.
Seeing oneself borrow or lend something good signifies attaining a good that will not last. Lending in a dream signifies repentance for a sinner, guidance and Islam for an unbeliever, and wealth for a poor person. This is a good deed and in Islam is called qard al-hasan, a benevolent loan.
Seeing oneself give something very valuable to a person who asks for it signifies the beauty of the dreamer’s dealings with Almighty Allah.
Seeing that the person from whom one borrowed has died signifies deliverance from grief, sorrow, and distress. If a sick person sees himself ask another for a loan, it signifies severity that will befall him; if he sees that he receives what he asked to borrow, it signifies his death.
