Imprisonment

Classical interpretations

Seeing imprisonment, that is, seeing oneself thrown into a dungeon, in a dream is interpreted as abasement, sorrow, and grief. If a woman sees in a dream that the sultan has imprisoned her, it signifies, if she is unmarried, marrying a great and illustrious man.

Seeing oneself imprisoned and thrown into a dungeon signifies coming before the head of state and speaking to him on matters of religion. For his holiness Joseph, while he was in prison, counselled the king of Egypt and prepared them for the famine.

Seeing oneself in another room not used as a dungeon, with one's feet bound and the door of the room closed on one, is a sign that some good will come to the dreamer. Again, seeing oneself tormented in that place is even better in terms of good and outcome.
