Hoopoe

Seeing a hoopoe signifies relief from distress and punishment, and at times knowledge of Allah Most High and of the religious commands He has prescribed, such as prayer.

Eating the flesh of a hoopoe signifies wealth coming from the government. The hoopoe may also signify a faithful envoy close to kings, a spy, or a restless and quarrelsome man. Speaking with a hoopoe signifies goodness.

Ja'far al-Sadiq said that seeing the hoopoe is interpreted in four ways: true news arriving from afar, elevation of rank, victory over an enemy, and deep understanding. Kirmani said that the hoopoe signifies a person of goodness or an intelligent and perceptive messenger. One who sees a hoopoe speak with him attains goodness.
