Hand

If a person sees a hand in a dream, it is interpreted as strength, kindness, trust, and support. For the hand is the limb a person needs most.

Seeing the right hand signifies strength, livelihood, earnings, wealth, and blessing.

Seeing one's hand grow longer and gain strength signifies overcoming an enemy, being heeded, and being skilled in one's craft, intelligent, and clever.

Ja'far al-Sadiq said: Seeing a hand in a dream is interpreted as follows. a) a brother, b) a sister, c) a friend, d) a child, e) a servant and attendant, f) strength, g) wealth, h) authority and office, i) property and riches, j) proof, craft, work, and deeds... If a person sees another hand touch his own hand, it is a sign that what he owns will double, and of power and strength. The interpretation is the same for merchants and tradesmen. Sometimes it is a sign that a brother will be born to the person who sees this dream or that he will have a child. If a man sees both his hands open, it is a sign of generosity and of spending his wealth in the way of Allah.

Seeing one's right hand made of gold signifies earnings and power, and the departure of hardship.

Seeing one's right hand speak to one and say "You did well" signifies a good and ample livelihood.

Ibn Sirin said: For a commander or those who act in his place, seeing the hand long signifies long life, the power and strength of those who serve him, authority over the land, much wealth, and an increase in profit. If a person sees his hand cut off and separated from his body, it signifies the death of his spouse, his friend, his secretary, his servant, or a loved one among his relatives.

Seeing one's hand cut off without feeling any pain or suffering signifies love and affection, and one's heart will fill with love for someone.

Seeing oneself take one hand into the other is a sign of relatives gathering on the occasion of a wedding ceremony.

Seeing oneself put one's arms around the neck of a righteous and pious person signifies repentance, guidance, and receiving forgiveness. If a student sees himself put his hand under his armpit and draw it out shining with light, it signifies progress on the path of knowledge and attaining his wish. If a head of state sees the same dream, his position will rise further and his strength will increase. If a merchant sees this dream, it is a sign of progress, growing fame, and honesty.

Seeing water come out of one's hand is interpreted as wealth and blessing. The two hands are a sign of rank, position, two sons, and power.

Seeing oneself take and give something with one's hands also signifies good and righteous deeds.

Imam al-Nabulsi said: "The right hand is a sign of a son, a father, a friend, or those with whom one keeps company. The left hand signifies a wife, a mother, a sister, a daughter, and a servant. If a person sees himself lose one of his two hands, it is a sign of losing the person whom the lost hand signifies..." If a person sees himself do something as strongly with his left hand as he does with his right, it signifies attaining wealth and strength and overcoming his enemy.

Seeing one's hand cut off but keeping it and not letting it leave one's side signifies gaining a son or a brother.

Seeing one's hand clean, beautiful, and pleasant signifies the good state of one's father and child, or clean wealth and good earnings. Sometimes this dream is a sign of friendship with companions and of deeds suited to one's state.

Seeing oneself left-handed or seeing a left-handed person signifies benefit, provision, blessing, and an easy livelihood. For after every hardship there is ease. Just as every night has its day... If a person sees himself eat all or half of his hand, it is a sign of a deed he will regret. In light of the verse "On that day the wrongdoer will bite his hands (in regret)..." (al-Furqan 27), that person will be among the wrongdoers. Clenching one's hand and refusing to open it is interpreted as stinginess.

Seeing one's hand become the hand of a prophet signifies that Allah Most High will guide a people through him. And that person will attain good and blessing. By contrast, seeing one's hand fall into the hand of an oppressor signifies wickedness or great injustice that will come from the dreamer's hand. If a person sees his right hand longer than his left, it is interpreted as loving to help and to do kindness. In short, hands seen in a dream signify craftsmen and writing. For craftsmen do their work with their hands. Without hands, work is difficult.
