If a pregnant woman sees herself give birth to a boy in a dream, it is a sign that the child to be born will be a girl.

Seeing herself give birth to a girl is the opposite. Then she will bring a boy into the world. In a dream, a girl signifies deliverance from sorrow and grief, and a boy signifies sorrow. If a sick man sees his mother give birth to him in a dream, it is interpreted as his death. For a newborn is wrapped in cloths like the dead. If a craftsman sees this dream, it is a sign that certain people will appear who will hinder him. If a man sees himself give birth to a boy in a dream, it is interpreted as illness and sickness. Being born in a dream signifies ease, deliverance from grief, paying a debt, and repentance. For when a child is born, it too comes from a narrow place into a wide space. If a woman sees herself give birth to a boy in a dream, it signifies relief, joy, good tidings, deliverance from a burden, and reaching safety.

Seeing herself give birth to a girl signifies honor, esteem, cheapness, plenty, ease after difficulty, and ample provision. If a poor person sees himself give birth in a dream, it is a sign of becoming rich. A rich person giving birth, however, signifies sorrow and grief for him. Kirmani said: Seeing oneself give birth to a girl in a dream is a sign of attaining a great good.

Seeing oneself give birth to a boy, however, signifies sorrow, grief, and anxiety.

Ja'far al-Sadiq said: If a woman sees herself give birth to a boy in her dream and the child speak as soon as it is born, that woman will attain safety in this world and the hereafter.

Abu Sa'id al-Wa'iz also said: If a man sees himself give birth to a child in a dream, it signifies that he will take on a heavy burden unsuited to him, and afterwards be freed from it and gain victory over the enemy.
