If a person sees a donkey in a dream, it is a sign of a servant, a child, and a wife. Sometimes, in light of the verse "The likeness of those who were entrusted with the Torah and then did not carry it is that of a donkey carrying volumes of books" (al-Jumu'ah 5), it is a sign of a journey or of knowledge. Sometimes seeing a donkey is a sign of a scholar who does not act on his knowledge, or of a Jew, or of a bed, a rug, and so on. and such things on which a person sets his feet. If a person sees himself own donkeys or mules, or ride a donkey, it signifies that wealth and children will adorn him. The sound of a donkey in a dream is not good. If a person hears the sound of a donkey, it signifies evil and hardship, a child born of adultery, and the appearance of an affliction that will come from the jinn. For a donkey brays because it sees the devil.

Ibn Sirin held seeing a donkey to be better than seeing other animals. And among donkeys he preferred the black one.

Seeing a donkey with its packsaddle is a sign of an honored child. The length of the donkey's tail is a sign of the continued power and eminence of the generations that will come after one's children.

Seeing oneself eat donkey meat is a sign that help one cannot foresee will reach one from an ignorant person.

Conversely, seeing oneself ride a wild donkey signifies turning from the truth toward falsehood and leaving the community of Muslims. Daniel (peace be upon him) said: Seeing a donkey and riding it signifies good fortune and a high rank. Everything good or bad seen in it is interpreted as the dreamer's fortune. Allah Most High will open the doors of good for whoever sees a donkey that is his own property. And He will free him from grief and distress.

Ja'far al-Sadiq said: Seeing a donkey is interpreted as follows: a) fortune, b) power, c) the fulfillment of one's command, d) becoming a leader, e) wealth and a wife, f) a servant, g) honor and prosperity, h) rank...

Abu Sa'id al-Wa'iz also said: Seeing a donkey is a person's resolve, striving, and effort. Its being fat or thin signifies poverty and need.

Seeing oneself turn into a donkey is a sign of harm that will come from relatives.

Seeing a donkey mount one's back signifies power and strength. If a person sees himself ride a female donkey, it signifies good and blessing.

Seeing a female donkey pregnant is a sign that the matter one hopes for will come about.

Seeing a wild ass come toward oneself in a dream signifies spoils and wealth.

Seeing the wild ass turn its back and go away is a sign of the loss of wealth. Kirmani said: Seeing a wild ass in a dream signifies an ignorant and foolish person.

Seeing one's own donkey signifies the opening of doors of good, and the dreamer is freed from distress such as sorrow, grief, and anguish.

Ja'far al-Sadiq said that seeing a donkey is interpreted in ten ways: fortune; prosperity; leadership; property; wife; servant; honor; good fortune; rank; and the fulfillment of one's command. The best donkey seen in a dream is one that is completely obedient to its owner.

Seeing donkey meat signifies profit and benefit in trade. Killing one's own donkey and eating its meat signifies falling into sorrow and grief because of property and livelihood. Kirmani said that buying a donkey signifies attaining good, while seeing one's donkey blind in one eye signifies disorder in livelihood and affairs.

Seeing one's donkey become a horse signifies good and benefit coming from the government. Loading a heavy burden on one's donkey and then riding it signifies boundless wealth, property, and riches.

Hearing the donkey bray signifies bad news.

Riding a female donkey signifies good and blessing.
