Classical interpretations
Seeing oneself commit adultery or fornication signifies treachery and wretchedness, because zina is shamelessness.
Seeing oneself commit zina is also interpreted as theft, because a person committing zina hides like a thief.
At times, zina is also interpreted as good. Thus, a person who sees himself committing zina with a beautiful young woman will place his wealth in a place where it will be safeguarded.
For a ruler, seeing himself commit zina and then receive the prescribed legal punishment signifies the strength of his rule.
Imam al-Nabulsi said: If a group of people known to be righteous, religious, learned, cleanly dressed, and pleasant in appearance are seen as though they go to a woman who commits zina and obtain something from her, this signifies that those people will receive knowledge from a scholar, seek knowledge, and learn from that scholar in proportion to what they obtained from the woman.
Seeing oneself commit zina with the wife of a person one knows signifies obtaining a share of that person's wealth.
Seeing oneself flirt or play amorously with a young woman signifies losing one's wealth in an unseen or hidden place.
