Classical interpretations

It is well known that ablution is among the acts of worship that cleanse sins. Cleanliness is part of faith.

Seeing oneself perform ablution in a dream signifies goodness, joy, and the resolution of difficult problems.

If the dreamer is ill, they recover; if sinful, they repent, their goodness increases, and they attain every kind of happiness.

Ablution is the key to beauty, cleanliness, goodness, safety, and peace.

Imam al-Nabulsi says:
- Seeing oneself perform ablution again while already in a state of ablution signifies mercy upon mercy and blessing upon blessing.

If a person sees themselves perform ablution or ghusl in a cold cellar, they find what they had lost. If they then see themselves pray, they are freed from grief and sorrow.

Performing ablution with something other than water signifies religious devotion. Performing ablution for prayer signifies spirituality and sanctity.

Seeing oneself perform ablution with milk or honey signifies soundness in matters of religion.

Drinking some of the ablution water from one's hand after ablution signifies good deeds, blessing, recovery from illness, and safety from fear.

Al-Nabulsi said:
- Seeing oneself complete ablution fully signifies beauty in all religions and protection granted by Allah Most High.

Seeing a merchant pray without ablution signifies gaining goods without capital.

Seeing oneself perform ablution in bed but being unable to rise, while suffering from severe pain, signifies separation from one's spouse or friend.

Seeing oneself perform ablution over a friend's head signifies inheriting from that friend and taking possession of their belongings.

Seeing a person one knows perform ablution at one's bedside signifies falling into grief and sorrow.
