Abasa

Classical interpretations

Seeing oneself recite Surah Abasa or part of it, or hearing it recited over oneself, signifies giving much charity and alms and traveling toward the east. Kirmani said that the person looks down on others and falls into pride and arrogance.

Ja'far al-Sadiq said that although he may do good and charitable deeds for the poor, he does them ostentatiously and reminds recipients of his favors.
